Uncle Remus and Brer Rabbit

This collection follows Uncle Remus as he tells the little boy a series of Brer Rabbit stories. Brer Rabbit tricks the other creatures into chasing a fake barbecue, survives their plans against him, stages a race between dust and rain, fools Brer Fox into a horse mishap, and causes all kinds of comic trouble in the mill pond, the hog-killing, the house-building, and the partridge nest tale. The book is best approached as a sequence of short folklore episodes rather than one continuous plot.
